My students are making graphs with the data we have collected with ticks.  If they put “month” or “temperature” on the x axis they they put the type of tick on the Y axis.  We found 3 different types of ticks….so some students are able to add “deer tick total” on the left and “dog tick total” on the right and even “+” on the left to add a third type of tick.  Some students however, create the same graph and they have no option to add anything to the right axis OR to add another attribute to the Y’s axis.  Is there another way to add data attributes to the right side? and to add more than 1 attribute to the Y axis?  Thank you.

    Hi Angela,

In order to add multiple attributes to the left y-axis, there must be a numeric attribute on the x-axis. Similarly, to add a numeric attribute to the right y-axis, there must be a numeric attribute on both the x- and left-y axes.

I suggest you check carefully to make sure their attributes, especially on the x-axis are being treated as numeric. And, if they are not, use the popup menu obtained by clicking on the attribute name and choose “Treat as Numeric.”

It would be helpful to get an image or a shared file for the situations for which students are having problems.

    Bill
