What is the “alignment” parameter for binning?

If you bin cases there are two options to adjust how the binning occurs—bin width and alignment. What does the alignment parameter do?

Hi Dan,

The alignment specifies a value that will be a bin boundary. For example, if the bin width is 10 and the alignment is 2, there will be bin boundaries at -8, 2, 12, 24, …. The alignment parameter need not be a value that’s visible on the axis; e.g. all the data values might be between 80 and 100, but you can still specify an alignment of zero.
