Hello,
Is there a way to share a link to CODAP that will open in the Beta version? That new Beta version seems to work much better on the iPad and I’d like to have my shared links default to open in beta.
Also, is there a way to convert an older CODAP file to work in the beta version?

Hello Jon,
I’m glad that the beta version of CODAP works better on the iPad. Yes, there are ways to create a shared link that opens the beta and you can also edit existing links.
- When you are working in the beta version and you create a shared link, that shared link points to the beta. Here’s an example: https://codap3.concord.org/beta#shared=https%3A%2F%2Fcfm-shared.concord.org%2F45SqfjPALYlAnVoC5zJl%2Ffile.json You can see that the first part of the link “https://codap3.concord.org/beta” refers to the beta.
- Now suppose you have an existing link; e.g.
https://codap.concord.org/app/static/dg/en/cert/index.html#shared=https%3A%2F%2Fcfm-shared.concord.org%2Folc2DjbcP247yrdKI0CV%2Ffile.json
You can edit this link, replacing everything from the beginning up to the “#” (hash mark) with the pointer to the beta; i.e. “https://codap3.concord.org/beta” so that the full link becomes
https://codap3.concord.org/beta#shared=https%3A%2F%2Fcfm-shared.concord.org%2Folc2DjbcP247yrdKI0CV%2Ffile.json Pass that link out to your students and it will open the beta for them.

One more question…
Is there a way to open the CODAP tutorials in the Beta version without creating new links? It’s not a big deal… just wondering.
Also… Is there a way to navigate to the tutorials from within CODAP? I thought it was under the Help menu, but I’m not seeing it now.

Hi Jon,
If by “tutorials” you mean the “Getting Started” documents, you can open them from the Example Documents tab of the Open dialog box. But I think if you want links, you’ll have to make new ones. (Let me know if you figure out a way.)

Good to know we can open two of the tutorials from inside the beta version. I assume there is no way to navigate to this list of seven tutorials on the Getting Started page. (https://codap.concord.org/get-started/tutorials/)
I’ll make new links to share with my students. Not a big deal.
