When I export a CODAP file as a CSV file, I lose the attribute descriptions. Is there any way to capture them in a CSV export? Or can they only be captured as a CODAP file export?

Currently, CODAP exports CSV files only, which has no standard way of expressing meta-data, so you are correct, you would lose the attribute descriptions in the export.
