My team has a CODAP file set up to show the sampling distribution of the mean when using different sample sizes. We’re using the Sampler plug-in to draw a random sample from a data table, and we have a graph set up to show the sample that Sampler produces, and it has the “Mean” box checked under the Ruler icon. That works okay the first time, but then when we want to repeat the method, we ask our students to use “Clear Data” in Sampler, and this makes the graph forget that the “Mean” box was checked. I made a video of this happening,

The CODAP file we’re using is https://codap.concord.org/releases/latest/static/dg/en/cert/index.html#shared=93062

    Hello Andrew,

It’s unfortunate that Clear Data behaves that way. I think it has to do with it getting rid of attributes and then reinstating them. It might be fixable.

But there is a fairly simple workaround that you may already have discovered.

    1. Click on the one or more rows in the experiments table.
    2. Then use the trash can menu on the right side of the case table to delete the selected cases.

This has the same effect as Clear Data but doesn’t cause the income2018simulated attribute to be momentarily deleted, so that graph doesn’t forget that it’s showing means.

    Hope this works for you,

    Bill

Ok, that workaround is working for me. I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks!
