Provide Instructions (Configure the Guide)
Each CODAP document has a special place for holding documentation: the Guide panel. The biggest advantage of the Guide panel over text boxes (or embedded webpages) is that many users read text boxes/embedded webpages and then close them to free up space; the Guide stays with the CODAP document.
Each Guide section needs to be created as a separate HTML file. You can create an HTML file using any text or HTML editor. You can create multiple HTML files for each section in the guide. The gif and instructions below walk you through how to set up a Guide.
- Upload the HTML file to a web host. You can use any web host. Note that if you are including images in your Guide page, you will need to upload the images to a web host as well.
- In the CODAP document, click on “Options -> Configure the Guide…”
- Give the guide a title. Include the URL to the HTML file next to each section you wish to include. You can also name the sections.
- If you have closed the guide but want to open it again, click on “Guide” in the upper right corner of a CODAP document, then “Show Guide.” You may also navigate directly to a specific section of the guide (such as by clicking on “Get Started” in the example here to go to the “Get Started” section).
