Privacy Policy
CODAP is a product of The Concord Consortium and conforms to its Privacy Policy found here: https://concord.org/privacy-policy/
Please note that no login or account registration is required to use the CODAP web application through its main link: https://codap.concord.org/app. If used in this manner, The Concord Consortium does not collect any of the information described in the above Privacy Policy under “Personal Information.”
If users choose to enable this option, CODAP allows users to save their work on a third party service (currently only Google Drive as described in more detail below). Usage of such a third party service is covered by that service’s privacy policy rather than The Concord Consortium’s.
CODAP and Google Drive
When you create a CODAP document, you can save it locally or choose to save it on Google Drive. If you choose to save your document to Google Drive, you will be asked to give CODAP permission to read and write only files created by CODAP. But signing into Google Drive from CODAP is not signing into CODAP. CODAP does not have user accounts.
If you share a CODAP document via a unique URL, a copy is stored on our server (encrypted both in transit and at rest), but there is no user information stored with this document.
The Google Drive authentication dialog allows you to access your own Google Drive account, not a CODAP user account. CODAP has no visibility into your Google Drive. When you open a file from Google Drive, Google displays a dialog for choosing a file. That dialog passes a token to CODAP, so it knows what file to request based on your selection. CODAP only has permission from Google Drive to read and write files made by CODAP, so it cannot access any other files. None of the data that passes between CODAP and Google Drive goes through any of Concord Consortium’s servers. That is all handled locally with direct communication between Google Drive and your device.
