I have some very large numbers (100s of millions) in a data set and would like to have some commas in them so that they’re easier to read. Especially because some numerals take up more horizontal space than others, it’s very hard to judge the relative magnitude of numbers with many digits. Does CODAP provide commas in large numbers? Or do you have other suggestions? (I know I could make the numbers be in “millions,” but I’d prefer not to do that for a variety of reasons.)
I was faced with this problem just a couple days ago. Unfortunately, the only thing I could do was set the unit to “million.” That worked fine for me, but it sounds like it won’t work well for you.
Thanks, Bill. I’ll reconsider the unit = million approach, since it sounds like the best option at the moment. (middle school kids aren’t good at counting digits – actually, neither am I!)
