I’m still trying to explore how CODAP compares to TinkerPlots.

On TinkerPlots, we were able to ask students collect samples with two independent variables by having them link samplers. So, e.g. they simulated rolling two dice, and find p-values for randomization problems. If I’m understanding the software correctly, I can’t do that on CODAP. (At least not without computing the combined sample space by hand: I could simulate rolling two dice by creating a table with all 36 two-die combinations.) A sample I collect on CODAP can have multiple variables, but not multiple sources of randomness, unless I build the randomness in my hand.

    is that right?

    Yes, that’s correct.

CODAP development happens in collaboration with projects that can provide funding for desired features. Hollylynne’s ESTEEM project funded Sampler development to its current state. There are a number of folks seeking funding to continue work on the Sampler to bring its functionality to at least the level provided in TinkerPlots. But for now, no linked samplers. 🙁
