Updating the eeps data zoo 🙂, I noticed that I could not see Doña Ana county in New Mexico when I made a map and linked the boundary file. I tried “Dona Ana,” no joy. There are a few more counties on the map that show up blank.

Any idea why? Is there a mechanism to fix this?

    Hi Tim,

The reason why is that there is a funny character in the entry for Doña Ana county in the CODAP document that is the source of the boundary files. You can see the “” in the enclosed screenshot. I’ll make sure it’s fixed soon.

You mention that there are other counties that show up blank. How do you recommend I determine which ones they are?

Thanks for your help making these data better!

    Hello Tim,

I was able to find quite a few “counties” in Puerto Rico with illegal characters in their names. These, and Doña Ana, will be fixed in the next release. If you notice any additional “missing” counties, please let us know.

    Bill
