One possibility would be to add some options to the menu that pops up when you click an axis title. If the axis is categorical we could provide a “Sort…” submenu and give options like [alphabetically (ascending), alphabetically (descending), by value (ascending), by value (descending)]. I think it needs some design thinking, but may be possible.
Dan DamelinKeymasterIf printing all of the table data is important, you can export it using the Ruler icon, and then open it in a spreadsheet application. However, you will lose any hierarchical structure that is in the CODAP table if there is any.
Dan DamelinKeymasterAndee, regarding Bill’s suggestion above that is the direction I was going on the Zoom call with Steven and you yesterday. Of course you lose scale along the x-axis if you change that attribute to categorical.
Dan DamelinKeymasterHi Andrew,
Any chance you might be on flakey internet when it is not working? I believe I once saw this same thing a long time ago, and thought it had something to do with resources not fully downloading or the browser cache referring to some older version of one of the resource files.
Regarding multiple shares, I was referring to Create a copy and then sharing the copy. Glad to hear it is working now. If you notice anything that is consistent about the times you see this happen let us know and we will try to track it down.
Two things to try which might tell us if it is the internet connection.
- Try holding down the shift key and reloading the browser page. Then try sharing again.
- Open an incognito window and then load the doc to see if the sharing dialog is working.
If either of those work to consistently fix the sharing dialog issue. It is likely incomplete resource download (or some browser caching issue).
Dan DamelinKeymasterAndrew,
You can only have one share point per CODAP document. This is to simplify having to manage multiple share points and works for most of our use cases. You can however make a copy of your doc, adjust it and then send out a share link to that copy. (or you can open your own share link, make a change, then share that)

Dan DamelinKeymasterHi Jo,
It would be helpful if you could provide a share link to the document showing this issue.
Dan DamelinKeymasterOnce you have created a graph with a categorical axis. You can drag the categories into a particular order. If you only have a few categories that might be OK. Interesting idea about having a setting for ordering the categorical variable once plotted. What kinds of settings would you imagine?
Dan DamelinKeymasterHi Sue,
Can you be more specific regarding the number of students you anticipate?
It is likely there will be no issue, because once the CODAP web-app has been loaded it is mostly running on the local device, largely independent of our servers.

Dan DamelinKeymasterHi Joachim,
When you select Share->update shared view, the link remains the same, so any previous links you gave out will point to the updated document.
To stop sharing return to the share dialog by selecting Share->Get link to shared view, and click the “Stop sharing” link.
As for sharing with just a select group, we don’t have a way to do that with our sharing system. However, if you save the document to google drive and then share it via Google’s sharing mechanism you could control who has access. A note of caution though, if you share this way, everyone has access to the original document so issues may occur if more than one person opens it as the same time. Using the built in sharing mechanism for CODAP causes each person to get their own copy of the shared view.

Dan DamelinKeymasterI see what you are saying. If you drop Bioma into the middle of a graph you get all grey colors rather than a rainbow of colors, one for each Bioma.
There’s something very strange about that column. I made another column that basically just copies the data from Bioma column and it works as expected. https://codap.concord.org/releases/latest/static/dg/es/cert/#shared=37537
February 22, 2018 at 5:36 pm in reply to: Uploading data with coordinates and geographic boundaries #460Dan DamelinKeymasterHere’s an example doc that shows how to use the lookup function to get state boundaries. This was made by starting from an empty table and following Bill’s instructions.
Dan DamelinKeymasterCristian, there are two issues with the link.
1. There doesn’t seem to be a model there. When I click on the link I get a 404 error, meaning the server says there is no file on the server that is referenced by that link. (is there a typo somewhere?)
2. CODAP is typically loaded using a secure link, which means the URL starts with https:// (rather than http://), and it would need the URLs of the plugins (in this case your model) to also start with https. Many servers can do either URL. Hopefully, the one you use will allow secure links. If not, you might try changing the link you launch CODAP with to http://
Dan DamelinKeymasterHi Cristian,
Kit put an example NetLogo model in his slides found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1190498/ANTS%20(3).html
If you open that link and then look at the NetLogo code there (by clicking on the “Netlogo Code” button below the model), I think you will see the example of what needs to be added.

Dan DamelinKeymasterThe InquirySpace team is looking into developing a video analysis plugin for CODAP as well.
Dan DamelinKeymasterCODAP has been under development for several years, but continues to be refined and add new features through our work with other partners. The sensor plugin is one example. This is being developed by another group at the Concord Consortium as part of the Inquiry Space project. https://learn.concord.org/inquiryspace
The materials found there use a much older version of CODAP. Over the next year we plan to update these to use the latest version of CODAP, and to offer curricular strands in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, to get students and teachers into learning through inquiry of phenomena.
