KeymasterHi Andrew,
Thanks for this post. The “preferred” way would be as you describe in your first attempt. But, as you note, that doesn’t work. So I’m going to add that as a bug report this morning and hopefully get it fixed and released by end of next week.
I don’t have a good suggestion for generating predictions for values not in the dataset. Will have to think about. Any ideas?

KeymasterHi again,
The link (“Getting Started in CODAP, Part 1″on: https://codap.concord.org/for-educators/) has now been updated to take you to our interim solution to the problem.

KeymasterHello Makiko,
Yes, we’re aware of this problem and working on it.
If you open CODAP from the Launch CODAP link on the page and then open Getting Started with CODAP example document, you’ll see that we have removed the first step until we can fix the problem.
Thanks for pointing out that the link on that page opens a version with the step that cannot be accomplished on Windows with Chrome.
By the way, the problem does not occur with other browsers or on the Mac.
Hopefully we’ll be able to fix this soon.

KeymasterHi Meggie,
Yes, there are plans to improve this situation during the next six months. And making it possible work with shared folders is at the top of the list of things we want to do to make CODAP work better with Google Drive.
Stay tuned,
Bill

KeymasterHi Nick,
Actually, the yesterday’s release of CODAP has fixed the problem for now by having the case table show from the start and eliminating the first task.
When you open CODAP you should see Version 2.0 (0611) in the upper right corner, and when you open the Getting Started document there should be only four tasks. (If you see five tasks, try clearing your browser’s cache and reloading.)
Hope this works!

KeymasterHello,
To get the basemap CODAP makes the following request:
https://static.arcgis.com/attribution/World_Topo_Map?f=json
If you click on the link or paste it into your browser URL bar, do you get anything? (It should be a bunch of JSON code.)
If you don’t see anything then, then there may be some firewall restriction imposed by your site. (Not that I can think why there should be.)
If you can create a shared link for the document, we can verify that it’s working in general.

KeymasterAnd thanks again to you, Andrew, for a great suggestion!

KeymasterHello and thanks for your question. The GeoJSON importer plugin is old and buggy. We’ll remove it from the page.
Importing geojson files is now a native CODAP capability. Simply download the file and drag it into a CODAP document. The result will be a dataset and a map as shown in this shared document.
I hope this helps,
Bill

KeymasterYou’re correct that place names are part of the base map. There is currently no way for the user to change the base map.
But I’ll add a request for the language of the base map to be tied to the language of the app.
Thank very much for letting us know of this need.

KeymasterHi Andee,
I believe you’ve uncovered a BUG!
Thanks so much,
Bill

KeymasterAh. Closing the table is not the same as deleting the dataset. Go to the tables menu and choose the trash can next to the appropriate dataset.
And you might need to make a new map, but I didn’t find I had to.

KeymasterHi Andee,
Thanks for this heads-up! I know we’ve been trying to improve CODAP’s integration with Google Drive, but not to allow it to delete all your files!
I’ve alerted the development team.

KeymasterHi Andee,
The problem is that there are two datasets with boundaries as you can see in the Tables menu in the screenshot. Easiest fix is to turn off the display of the cases in the London Boundaries dataset by unchecking the cases option circled in the second screenshot.
Alternatively you can delete the London Boundaries dataset provided you first delete the formula for boundary in the London Borough Data dataset.
Hope that helps.

December 12, 2021 at 1:55 am in reply to: graph forgets to show mean after using Clear Data in Sampler #6768Bill Finzer
KeymasterHello Andrew,
It’s unfortunate that Clear Data behaves that way. I think it has to do with it getting rid of attributes and then reinstating them. It might be fixable.
But there is a fairly simple workaround that you may already have discovered.
- Click on the one or more rows in the experiments table.
- Then use the trash can menu on the right side of the case table to delete the selected cases.
This has the same effect as Clear Data but doesn’t cause the income2018simulated attribute to be momentarily deleted, so that graph doesn’t forget that it’s showing means.
Hope this works for you,
Bill

KeymasterHi Andee,
Short answer: No.
But it’s worth noting that if you expand the axis scale by dragging the year values at either end of the axis, the “missing” years appear.
